The application a team treats as authoritative for a given kind of data. The CRM holds accounts and deals, the customer success platform holds renewals and health, the issue tracker holds engineering work.

Work that never reaches the system of record does not count. Agents write their briefs, recaps and commitments back to it for that reason.
